I got my nose pierced today!
After everything happened on 2/14, I considered getting a tattoo. I’m very religious, and knew that it would be frowned upon, so I decided not to. I’ve wanted to pierce my nose for a while, and have toyed with the idea. At first, I thought I was too old and I’d look like I was trying too hard. Then I realized that I’m a cool mom and trendy high school teacher, so why not?
One of my students, Taylor, works at No Hard Feelings Tattoo & Piercing. I decided to go there. The owner, Chris Blinston, was a finalist on Ink Master Season 6, so I was also geeking out a little at the thought of meeting him. Taylor said she’d be there at noon, so I decided to go. My daughter wanted to come with me. After I filled out the paperwork, we were brought back to see Trevor. The whole thing took less than five minutes. It hurt a little, but it was mostly pressure. I’m not a huge fan of having things up my nose, so it was a little uncomfortable. When I saw it for the first time, it honestly looked like it had always been there. I loved it, and knew I had made the right decision.
I’m not usually a huge risk taker – and I don’t know if getting a piercing is a huge risk – but I’m glad I did it. I’m glad that my daughter came with me, and watched me be brave.
